Hi corkgirl
I guess your from ireland.
I have been looking for a tux myself.
I have seen numerous offers in the shops in england for tux under £100 which includes the complete outfit.
The bonus of this, is you get to keep it.
Yes Im from Ireland and my boyfriend would think it madness to spend money 'renting' a tux when you would nearly buy one for the same price, he would get over having to carry it - we could always get it pressed if need be!!
It depends on how often your boyfriend plans on needing a tux. I bought one for about the same price. I have used it on 2 cruises so far so its paid for itself already. However, if it may be a year of two between uses, like it or not, he may grow out of the bought tux over time. I have changed suit coat jacket sizes a couple of times since getting older.... The reason to rent are therefore 2 fold, not having to carry one and not having to buy a new one next time its needed. If he doesn't think he will change sizes before the next use, then buying one is the correct course.

Bit of a silly question, but does the rental cover all the formal nights?
I'm doing a transatlantic cruise in a few months, and in the past we've had at least 3 formal nights.
I normally take my kilt plus accessories but it ends up rather heavy in the luggage.
