Does anyone know what the drinking age for alcoholic beverages is on the ship now (we will be on Explorer)? I have 2 people traveling with our party that would fall into the 18-20 age bracket (both 19) and remember before I was over 21 I was able to drink beer and wine only if my parents would sign off on it. Is this policy still in place or have they implemeted a new one?

Hi! Just returned with my 20 year old from the Liberty of the Seas. RCCL's alcohol policy is on their website. They do not serve ANY alcohol to under 21 at this time, including beer and wine. Parental consent doesn't change this. Their policy states that fines, or loss of cruising privileges can result even from procuring alcohol for someone under 21. I don't know how diligently this is enforced, but even when I went dancing with my daughter in the clubs her ship's pass was checked at the door and she was warned not to try to obtain alcohol or she would be asked to leave the venue. We aren't really drinkers so this was fine by us, and we did not try to see if this was lip service or actually enforced. The cruise was plenty of fun for her without!
