Stella Solaris Mini Review Bob Brown
Age: Over
65 The Stella Solaris is a good ship, beginning to show her age. Her great crew, great food and entertainment, together with superb itinerary more than make up for her age. With a maximum capacity of just 550 passengers, it's a great alternative to the new megaships. On board were some of the best lecturers we've ever seen on a single cruise: Scott Carpenter, Serge Kuruchev (professor-son of the late USSR premier) Tom Bopp, the co-discoverer of the Bopp comet and several professors with expert credentials on South American indians were great and easily accessible. Ports of call were well chosen with more than two-day visits to the major cities. Though tours were a little pricy, alternate transportation was always available when city was away from the port. Shopping was inexpensive and a delight in most ports. Stern, the big jewelry company has stores in most big cities and provided free transportation into town with no obligation to shop. They brought us back to the ship too!
One
bad taste was a jeweler in Rio, Ben Bros. who turned out to be a problem for several of us from the
ship. All in all, a wonderful cruise experience, a bargain price and very happy passengers. They're
doing it again in 2001). |
