While many of the breathtaking beaches on this island are not far from Grenada Port, most cruise passengers find the public transportation to be a better option than hoofing it to the white sands. The main beach on the island, Grand Anse Beach, is just a 10-minute taxi ride from the cruise port. Taxi fares are determined by the Grenada government and generally cost about $10 each way as of March 2011. Grenada's colorful public bus system is also accessible to tourists and you might be able to get to your beach destination for under one dollar by hopping onboard one of these vehicles.
