Longview Port Guide

The Longview port of call in the state of Washington has been in operation since 1921. It has taken part in the development of Longview’s economy; it has provided plenty of jobs in international and manufacturing trade.

The Longview cruise port has a total of eight marine terminals. Cargo ships also dock here carrying all kinds of cargo including lumber, paper, steel, and other bulk cargos. Since the tragedy of the terrorist attack in September 11, 2001, the security has changed in the Longview port of call. It now works with the U.S. Coast Guard to ensure the safety and to provide immediate response in case of emergencies.

There are many charming little shops in and around the Longview cruise port; these have an abundance of items including food, clothes and souvenirs. Among these are Lane Bryant and Claire’s for wide selections of women’s clothing and jewelry. Athlete’s Corner provides sports equipment and athletic gear for people who love to engage in sports and athletic activities.

For souvenirs and other gift items, visit Gift Cottage and Gift Garden Gift Shop. An interesting novelty is the volcano candle; it is made from the ashes of the Mt. St. Helen eruption in 1980.

Things to See

There are plenty of venues for music lovers near the Longview cruise port including Kennedy’s Night Club and Reid’s Pitstop; both of which are frequented by young people who enjoy famous bands such as Tsunami Bomb and Broadway Calls. There is also a native ancestral burial ground for Longview’s indigenous people called Mount Coffin. Longview is also famous for its Nutty Narrows Bridge, which is a bridge that was built entirely for squirrels. It was created using wire to make the suspension cables and a retired fire hose for the surface of the bridge.

Restaurants and Bars

You will find a multitude of excellent bars, restaurants, and cafes in and around the Longview port of call. A prime example of this is Freddy’s Just for the Halibut, which is popular for its seafood dishes. Some of its best dishes include fresh pan fried oyster stew, hand dipped halibut, broiled hand cut steaks, homemade clam chowder, sirloin burgers, and sandwiches. Coffee Cabin serves tea and coffee, The Pancake House serves traditional American breakfast, and Golden Palace Restaurant & Lounge offers authentic Chinese cuisine with a cocktail lounge. There’s a place called Kesler Sports Bar & Grill, a restaurant called Parkers Steakhouse serves steaks and barbecue, and a bakery called Red Rooster Bakery that serves freshly baked bread. Porky’s Cafe & Lounge offers fresh seafood, while Papa Murphy’s Take & Bake Pizza offers pastas and pizzas.
