Funchal Port Guide

The Funchal Port in lovely Madeira (region of Portugal) is often referred to by travelers as ideal. It is the capital city or Madeira, and has more than 100,000 locals. Things to See

The IBTAM Museum is a fun place to visit, while docked at the Funchal port of call. Check out the embroidered cloths from the 19th century. There are also many handicrafts and wickerwork displayed here for viewing.

Get a phenomenal view of Funchal for the Pico dos Barcelos. This is a tranquil spot that allows you to relax at over 1,200 feet above the city. Since there are wonderful views of Funchal and the sea, don't forget your camera.

For those who appreciate historical monuments, stop by the Christovao Colombo Statue, which is located in Catarina Park. Then again, you could also check out the Sissi statue in Casino Gardens. This is the Memorial for Elisabeth of Bavaria.

Restaurants and Bars

For excellent pizza, you should visit Casa Italia. This eatery provides exceptional service and authentic Italian cuisine. The portions are large, and the atmosphere is very jovial. Just be aware that this restaurant gets a lot of business and can get very full.

You can find Mediterranean foods at House Jazz. At reasonable prices you can dine on entrees like duck and roasted pork fillets. Many locals and tourists return for the classy jazz tunes that play while you eat.

Tokos Restaurant offers fresh meats like locally caught fish. Located next to the Cliff Bay Hotel, this eatery has been around for over 20 years now. Patrons can choose from a good selection of seafood dishes, as well as appetizers like baby squid. 

The Prince Albert Pub is great place to grab a cold one and listen to some live music. This lively bar setting stays busy with tourists and visitors, and can be found in the casino area of Funchal.
