Rio de Janeiro’s cruise terminal is situated in the downtown business district. It is roughly a twenty minute cab ride to Copacabana. The port’s vicinity is not safe enough to be walking around; especially at night. The terminal is clean and has several shops lined up.

Parking in Rio is difficult everywhere. The best option for tourists is to park the car in a safe car park and make sure to leave it with an attendant. Parking is quite cheap in Rio.

4. How do You get to the Cruise Port?  

The cruise port is only walking distance from downtown Rio de Janeiro. You can use the public transport or get a cab. If you’re traveling by air and land at Antonio Carlos Jobim Airport, the greatest way to get to the port from this airport is by radio taxi.

6. What's the Nearest Airport to the Cruise Port?

Antonio Carlos Jobim Airport (commonly known as Galeão Airport) is the nearest airport to the port - approximately 12 miles (20 kilometers) north of downtown.

7. What Attractions are Near the Cruise Port?  

Rio de Janeiro is very well-known for its gorgeous and alluring beaches. Ipanema and Copacabana are the two most famous beaches. Copacabana is a 2-mile stretch with a lot of hotels and cafes lined up while Ipanema’s 1-mile stretch is all about the “view”. There are also marvelous museums and churches in the downtown area.

8. What Hotels are Near the Cruise Port?  

The Luxor Continental is a 3-star hotel which is only a 10-minute cab ride from the cruise port.  It has a wonderful view of the Copacabana. The Windsor Excelsior is a 4-star hotel which is also only a 10-minute cab ride from the cruise port.  It has great view of the world famous Christ the Redeemer statute.

9. What Restaurants and Shops are Near the Cruise Port?  

There’s Atlantico Restaurant on Atlantico Boulevard in Copacabana. It is right across the flea market in the middle of Atlantico Boulevard. You’ll have a great view of the beach and the flea market from their dining area outside. Right inside the cruise ship terminal, you will see several souvenir shops and the Brazilian jewelers (Amsterdam Sauer and H.Stern). The public flea market is situated at the north end of Copacabana Beach. The streets of Copacabana and Ipanema Beach are filled with stores.

10.  Are Ships Docked at the Port, or are Passengers Ferried from the Port to the Ship? 

The ships dock at Pier Maua, the city’s commercial port.
