Hamilton shops are just a walk away from the Hamilton port and many of these shops can be found on Front Street, the city’s main shopping district. Do not underestimate the shopping opportunities at Hamilton; the family-owned shops may look quaint to you at first but there’s really more than meets the eye. Also, sales tax is not applicable in Bermuda law; luxury goods such as fine china, perfumes and watches can be bought at very low prices. Here are three suggested Hamilton shops for unique gifts:
1. Pulp & Circumstance
Head on to Windsor Place and look for the only stationery store in the area, Pulp & Circumstance. As a Bermuda Gold recipient for excellence in shopping, the stationery store sells unique paper and pens from all over the world. One of the rare finds you’ll probably come across is the flimsy pastel notepaper that shows photo imprints of Gombey dancers.
2. Bermuda Triangle
Bermuda Triangle is one of those eclectic shops that you should not miss when you’re on the island. It is conveniently located at the Clocktower Mall near the Royal Naval Dockyard, a popular attraction in Hamilton. Look out for hand-painted wood carvings like doorstops and tropical fish magnets with the pink Bermuda cottage blueprint, a trademark design in the island. Most of the items displayed inside the shop can’t be found in stores outside the island.
3. The Littlest Drawbridge Gift Shop
The shop can also be found at the Clocktower Mall and sells handmade items perfect for souvenirs. These items include goblets, bowls, treasure chests and vases. You can also buy aromatic cedar essential oils, Cuban cigars and incensed cones.
When you’re on a Hamilton cruise, find the time to look for the shops mentioned above.
