Cape Liberty is safeguarded by the Maritime Security Initiative. Operated by the New Jersey State Police, the MSI ensures that the port is kept safe. They also execute search and rescue operations in the area if needed. Inside the port, you can expect screening similar to that of an airport. Expect to walk through a metal detector and have your bags checked when you arrive. Those bags are also subject to search to ensure that no harmful objects are brought on board. Though guns and other weapons are never allowed on board, different lines have different rules about other items that may not be brought aboard. You should check with your line before you set sail.
