R Six Mini Review

Elayne Kalstein

Age: 55
Occupation: Computer Consultant
Number of Cruises: 2
Cruise Line: Renaissance
Ship: R6
Sailing Date: August 30th, 2001
Itinerary: Stockholm to Dover

I was on a Renaissance Cruise from Stockholm, Sweden to Dover, England that ended on September14th. The ship was the R6.

This review is not about the cruise (which was wonderful) but about how great Renaissance Cruises were to its passengers that were stranded because of the tragedy on September 11th. This included people not only on our cruise but also people who came aboard for the next cruise which was cancelled.

They housed and fed us for free from September 14th until September 17th. They provided free phone and internet to the US. They provided free shuttle buses to Dover and Canterbury. They provided transportation to/fro Heathrow both Sunday and Monday- For theses of us who could not get out on Sunday, the staff at Heathrow stayed with us and insured we were not stranded at Heathrow, but brought us back to the ship. They did everything in their power to book or help us book flights home.

They were always very helpful and courteous throughout this ordeal, even listening to the few passengers who were totally self serving, screaming and yelling while all they were trying to do was help.

My heartfelt thanks goes to Renaissance cruises for their assistance during this ordeal.
