Carnival Sensation Cruise Ship

The Carnival Sensation entered service in 1993; the third of eight ships in the Fantasty Class.The Sensation went into dry dock to be refitted, and was launched again in 2009. Private balconies to 98 rooms were added. The sunning area was added to the Promenade Deck, for adults only. The Verandah Deck's new attraction is the water park. Sensation now offers 3 and 4 night cruises to Nassau and Freeport, Bahamas, from Port Canaveral. The ship accommodates 2,052 passengers and a crew of 920.

Total Choice Dining has four seatings, but Bistro dining is an alternative. Several starters, two salads, and several entrees are offered. Entrees may include red snapper, sweet and sour shrimp, rack of New Zealand lamb, or Beef Wellington. Spa Carnival options are also available. Every evening between 6 and 9 pm, the informal areas on the Lido Deck become Seaview Bistros, with informal, buffet-style dining, inside or outside by the pool. Open seating is offered for Seaview Bistro dining. For the passenger who wants a late night or even early morning snack, the Carnival Sensation offers a 24-hour pizzeria and 24 hour room service. A new coffee cafe has a variety of specialty coffees; not free but the delicious pastries are.

Entertainment and Nightlife

The main venue is the Fantasia Lounge Theater. Other popular night spots on the ship include the Kaleidoscope Dance Club that has rotating mirror balls. The Plaza Lounge for everything from dance music to popular, or even country and folk music. Michelangelo's Lounge plays all kinds of dance music every night. The Fantasia Lounge and Sensation Boulevard are also popular spots to party. The Touch of Class Piano Bar features a huge circular piano where passengers can sit and sing along. The Grand Atrium features a new bar. During the day, Trivial Pursuit and bingo are available.


The demi-suites and full suites have balconies. All cabins have been outfitted with flat screen TV's. CNN is included, as well as telephones in each cabin. Cabins accommodating four or five guests book quickly. The interconnecting cabins are perfect for large groups traveling together. Oceanview staterooms have mini bars and large bathrooms.


The Sensation includes the Galleria shopping mall, the Virtual World Arcade, and a photo gallery. Internet access is offered, with special packages available for those who spend more time online. A new, upgraded spa offers more amenities for passengers. The spa's exercise machines are state-of-the-art, and a private trainer is on the premises. Aerobics and yoga classes are available. A jogging track and volleyball court keep passengers fit. Shore excursions are available, but for passengers who prefer it, snorkeling equipment can be rented.


A fee of $10.00 per day per person is automatically added to your account. However, passengers may check with the purser's desk to change the amount at any time during the cruise. Gratuities may be prepaid, and must be prepaid when booking cruises-to-nowhere.

Taking the Kids

A new feature is "Carnival Waterworks," the new water park with a 300 foot long, 4-story high "Twister Water Slide." The kids will also love playing miniature golf on the nine-hole course. "Camp Carnival" is also newly designed, and the interconnecting cabins are especially for families.
