Richard With Cruise Ship

Named after the founder of the coastal fleet, Richard With Cruise ship is an elegant ship which was originally built to provide regular communications and transit between the isolated villages in the Western part of Norway. Like her six sister ships form Hurtigruten, Richard With is adorned with a great collection of art pieces by local artists such as Jan Harr, Karl Erik and Eva. The ship underwent a major refit in 2006 in order to add more Junior Suites and an Internet café.

Highlights

Built in 1993, Richard With Cruise ship features elevators and wheelchair accessible cabins. Her public areas are spacious and are adorned with works by Norwegian artists. One of the ship’s main attractions is the glass-enclosed panorama lounge where guests can view the passing scenery. The 399 foot long vessel can accommodate up to 490 passengers. The ship has a total of 70 friendly and dedicated crews always attentive to your every cruising need. The ship still maintains her strict smoking policy in many general areas but there are both smoking and non-smoking lounges on board.

Cuisine

The ship’s main dining room is the Polar Restaurant which is a non-smoking venue. The restaurant serves three meals every day. Guests will be able to try the famous Norwegian koldtbor, or cold buffet during breakfast and lunch in two assigned seating basis.

Another great place for fine dining is the Los Holtes Cafe which serves light meals 24 hours a day. Alcoholic drinks on board are quite expensive, but the ship has a policy that allows passengers to bring their own alcohol aboard.

Entertainment and Nightlife

The main entertainment for the guests is the scenery. So always look out the window and you will never get bored. Guests are encouraged to network with the staff and fellow passengers. In fact, people in Norway are considered to be some of the friendliest in the world.

Cabins

The ship has a total of 209 cabins; 173 of which have an ocean view. The cabins are divided into eight grades, but only 10 of the suites have double beds. The rest of the cabins have fixed twin beds and berths. Some of the amenities in each cabin include hair dryer, heated floors, spacious closets, and a writing desk. Guests staying in one of the suites will enjoy the mini bar and television.

Recreation

The main recreation is the ship’s stops in some of the most beautiful towns in the world. The ship has a gym, a tiny library, laundry facilities and a computer room. There is a gift shop on board where you can buy pins and t-shirts. The ship also features a sauna for those who want to have some relaxing and pampering time.

There are no gratuities onboard.

Taking the Kids

The ship is not recommended for kids. There are no children’s facilities on board.
