The Golden Princess is the sister ship of the Grand Princess and was once the largest cruise ship in the world when it was originally launched in 1998. This 109,000-ton mega-ship is as equally grand and luxurious as its sister. The Golden Princess can accommodate 2,600 passengers on double capacity. Launched in 2001, the Golden Princess ship has 1,300 cabins, 710 of which have balconies. The Golden Princess ship presents ample choices for dining. Guests can enjoy the flexibility of Princess Cruises’ Personal Choice Dining and Anytime Dining options. With Personal Choice Dining, guests can choose traditional dining at their preferred time with the same waiters and tablemates. With Anytime Dining, guests can choose the time and the restaurant. Aboard the Golden Princess, there are two flexible dining rooms and one traditional seating restaurant. The Canaletto, Donatello and Bernini are the main dining rooms of Golden Princess seating 486 to 504 passengers.
As in all Princess Cruises, the Golden Princess offers continental cuisine. All the ship’s dining rooms are elegantly decorated with etched glass partitions and hand-painted murals giving the rooms a distinct Italian fare but with a very intimate atmosphere. There are alternative restaurants that are available upon advanced reservation: Sabatini’s Trattoria for fine Italian cuisine and the Sterling Steakhouse for Angus beef and grilled red meats.
