 Dominica

4WD CHAMPAGNE REEF SNORKEL AND SULFUR SPRINGS
$69 Per Person

4 Wheel-Drive Landrover ex-army jeeps are your mode of transportation as you explore the south coast of Dominica. You'll experience the shores, villages and the inviting reefs and waters of this “Nature Island of the Caribbean.”

The sub-aquatic hot springs and their bubbles at Champagne Reef are the first stop. To swim in this reef has been described as “swimming in champagne”. A once in a lifetime experience? Without a doubt! You'll be provided with snorkel gear and instruction, if necessary, before heading into the bubbles of Champagne Reef. Squid and colorful Parrotfish will enjoy the bubbles right alongside you.

After the bubbles, you'll head to Scottshead, the southernmost point of this 29-mile long by 16-mile wide island. Scottshead Point provides breathtaking, sweeping vistas of the blue expanse where the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean meet. Here you will have the opportunity to to explore the remnants of the historic Fort "Kashacou" and go for a short swim.

You then head back north along the coast to the Village of Soufriere. If you notice a faint, yet not unpleasant, odor of sulphur as you approach the village, you won’t be alone. Here, too, sub-aquatic springs send hot water upward – with just a hint of sulphur, hence the name Sulphur Springs – mixing with the tropical waters of the Caribbean to create just the right temperature for rejuvenating soaking and swimming.

On the return trip, the route features lush green mountain slopes on your right, the azure waters of the Caribbean on your left, and the tropical sunshine on your shoulders
