WHALE AND DOLPHIN SAFARI TOUR

Take our comfortable motorized catamaran to look for the pods of whales and dolphins that make their home in this area of the Caribbean. As you head out along the coastline, you will be briefed on the area and the history of lovely Dominica and its mammals. Your guide will tell you what to look for to make this mission successful as they live and behave in their natuaral habitat.

The catamaran will stay between 2 and 8 miles from the coastline so you can watch for sightings of these magnificent animals. The closest we may come to these mammals is 50 meters. This is a calving area and, though we want a successful trip, the welfare of the animals and your safety are our primary concern.

The boat will stop about every 3 miles for 15 minutes and hydrophones will be put into the water. The engines are shut down so you can listen for the rhythmic clicking of Sperm Whales, the pinging of the Pilot Whales, the whistling of Dolphins, or the singing of the Humpbacks. The guides will tell you what to listen for and what you are hearing, plus more educational commentary throughout the trip.

It is most likely that you will see Sperm Whales, Pilot Whales, False Killer Whales, Spotted Whales, Spinner Whales, and the Bottle Nose Dolphins, but this is nature and we cannot guarantee sightings. As you reflect on the tour during the return to port, you will enjoy juice and rum punch
