Skagway
This activity is another
example of how the actual raft trip is just one part of a terrific
introduction to Alaskan wilderness and history. The location of your
entry into the Taiya River allows you to enjoy a beautiful ride along
the coast to Dyea valley. It's an old gold rush settlement steeped in
history. Your narrated ride will not only be interesting but scenic and
you might spot some eagles, as well as other natural elements, while you
listen and observe. Again, no promises, but lots of porpoises and seals
are usually seen.
The float trip itself starts after you suit up in life jackets, rubber
boots, and rain gear if necessary. The trip is comfortable and requires
no experience or skill. Your discussion while floating down the lazy
river will center more around the natural beauty surrounding you. As
your group will be small, you will be able to hear as well as see the
sounds of Alaska.
