KILAUEA VOLCANO HIKING ADVENTURE SHORE EXCURSION

This trip takes you to Kilauea Volcano, the source of creation of the Hawaiian Islands. Incredibly enough, the land you cross gets younger as the air-conditioned van climbs from the Port of Hilo to the 4,000 foot summit of Kilauea Volcano and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Here, new land is brought from the earth's interior to the surface. This is a rare and unforgettable experience in a unique environment.

In the park, your naturalist guide will provide you with details about the volcanic activity, the surrounding plants and the history of humans living in this archaic area. In addition, your guide will explain the cultural significance of the area and recite ancient legends of Pele, the fire goddess. You will soon learn Kilauea remains a sacred place for many Hawaiians.

Immersed in the terrain and flora of Kilauea Volcano, you’ll hike through lava fields, rainforest, a lava tube, and near steam vents. When flowing lava is accessible you will get as close as safely possible.
