Sometimes we have to work hard to dig out the special resources on an island. On Barbados, however, we have the oppposite problem. There is too much to see, too much to do, too many good people to meet, too much talent to choose from.

This tour evolved from that frustration. It begins in the heart of the historic Garrison area on the outskirts of Bridgetown. Located here is the Barbados Museum, full of galleries that appeal to many interests like maps, heritage, archeology, research, and crafts. It has been arranged in a converted British prison and is fascinating.

Next you will move on to the home of the Caribbean's premium rum - Mount Gay has been in continuous production since 1703. At the plant you will visit, the fermented and distilled spirits are aged and visitors can tour the facility. Ready yourself for a taste of this famous nectar.

Your tour moves into central Barbados, opening up beautiful views across the surrounding hills and over the lush pastures typical of the inland area. As you take in the scenery, you will never suspect that your next point of interest will bring you underneath all this beauty, only to discover more during a tram ride through Harrison's Cave.

You'll travel uphill and down and, all of a sudden, find yourself in Bathsheba, a historic seaside spa that is special to all Barbadians. The center of the beach is known here as the "Soup Bowl" and is a popular spot for surfers. Here you will stop at a lovely seaside resort for lunch.

Your ride continues along the east coast, well-known for its pockets of sandy beaches nestled between large boulders and hidden under craggy cliffs carved by the Atlantic winds. As you travel along you will pass, and sometimes stop, to catch a view or take in a famous landmark.

Before you know it, you will be meandering through rural St. John. The focal point here is St. John's Church, a wonderful old mix of beautiful architecture, interesting history, and a stunning view out the back.
