Itinerary: crimean discovery

when we first arrived in dalaman, we had a transfer to the ship in marmaris, the coach was absolutely filthy, you couldnt see out of the windows! the seats were dirty, chewing gum stuck to some of them, the floors hadnt been cleaned for years, and no seat belts, not a good start, the bus on the journey back to the airport after the holiday was equally as bad. when we arrived at check in the staff were absolutely lovely, as were ALL the staff on the ship. we were a very surprised to have to pay £15 for a safety deposit box in our cabin!! we've been on 32 cruises, normally RCI P&P Princess or Celebrity and we have NEVER had to pay for safety deposit boxes before. The gym on the ship was a joke, i use the gym at home every day and wanted to use the gym on the ship, but i was NEVER able to use it, it was so small, totally unsuitable for 1200 passengers and always full of staff members!

We where absolutely astounded that we docked at the port of constant in romania, we decided to do a tour here, constanta panorama, what an absolute joke, it was a complete building site, we stopped nr the museum for a short break, in the middle of a building site, we had to dodge the diggers and trucks and climb over rough surfaces, a lot of people really struggled with this, in the opinion of all of us on the bus, we should not have paid £24 each for this appalling trip. we mentioned it to the staff at the excursions desk but all we got the following day was a letter saying that thomson take the safety of their passengers very seriously and they hoped we enjoyed the rest of our ancient wonders cruise!!!! were they having a laugh? we werent even doing the ancient wonders cruise, it was the crimean discovery cruise. A total waste of £48. on the celebrity ship there was an extreme shortage of sunbeds on our 2 days at sea, there were literally hundreds of people walking around looking for sunbeds.

in all i think it was absurd to call the celebrity a platinum ship. we had a cruise and stay holiday with a 2nd wk at the club turban in icmeller/marmaris, when we arrived at the club turban hotel we had to wait 2.25 hours for our room to be ready, we arrived at 2pm, our room was not good either, it was in the roof and our balcony had a brick wall, if you sat in a chair it was as if you were sitting in a brick box, all you could see was the sky and that was if you looked straight up! there were no drawers in the room and we had to use our suitcases, the rooms in the roof should have been sold as budget rooms, after speaking to a lot of the other thomson guests, they nearly all seemed unhappy with their rooms,(i wonder, do thomson guests get the sub standard rooms in this hotel, it certainly seemed that ways) we mentioned it to the reception but they said that the hotel was full but they may be able to move us in a day or so. we didnt bother to go back as we were only there for 7 nights and didn't fancy packing again and unpacking in the next room. the corridors on the 5th floor were never vacuumed in all the time we were there, all the bits of fluff etc were still in the same places, the carpets were rucked up and dangerous with gaps and thread bare sections anyone could have easily tripped up, the carpets in our room were the same, this carpet was actually torn. the windows in the hotel corridors were absolutely filthy, you couldnt see out of them. the bathroom towels were UNBELIEVABLE they were like sandpaper!! the worst we have ever had on any holiday, we went to the maids trolley and were going to change them but they were all the same, good job this was a 5T hotel as i dread to think what the towels were like in a 3T!! the beach towels were totally thread bare with threads hanging from them. we were told that if we both wanted a key to our hotel room, we would have to pay 5TL, we thought this was a joke too. the safe in our room was on the floor right at the back of the wardrobe, very very difficult to get to, if you were elderly or had a bad back you simply would not have been able to use it. so there you have it, my opinion of you platinum ship and the 5T hotel, needless to say we will not be travelling with thomson again

the food on the celebration was excellent 10/10

old and tired shows

didnt do any tours but looked quite good

DONT do any excursions in constanta, absolute rip off, paid £24 each and was taken to a huge building site, dont even get of the ship in romania

fab weather, brilliant evening entertainment on the celebration but ship so old and tired, never a platinum! hotel (club turban) never 5T either
